JOB DESCRIPTION Position: Registered Nurse Cardiology Basic Function: Delivery of age-specific, direct patient care. Cardiology Department-Cardiology services consist of 3 subsets of services: Noninvasive Cardiology, Invasive cardiology and Cardiac rehabilitation. The job description and competencies are dependent on the actual department. Some cross coverage occurs and those individuals are expected to maintain full competencies in the area to which they are assigned.Noninvasive cardiology nurse will assist in providing a full complement of diagnostic services to evaluate the nature and extent of cardiac disease. This also includes all aspects of adult, pediatric and echocardiography. Staff are trained and registered in congenital heart anomalies. Invasive cardiology nurses will function in the cardiac catheterization and angioplasty assistive role. He/she will also assist with placement of permanent pacemakers, elective DC cardio version, transesophageal echocardiography and conscious sedation. The cardiac rehabilitation nurse provides a structured program designed to assist the patient in exercises, education, relaxation training and nutritional instruction.
Reports to: Unit Manager and/or DirectorSupervises: Co-workers and ancillary staff as appropriate. Delegates to LNA, LPN, EMT or Paramedic as per State Practice ActRequired: Basic Life Support Certification, Registered Nurse or Graduate Nurse who is eligible for state RN boardsPreferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing, one year nursing experience
